Mo is set to make his European debut this Sunday when the Rangers face their SPL rival Celtic in the season’s first Old Firm match-up. Provided Mo is settled in and had enough time to train with the club, he could be summoned to see some action in the game.
“The Old Firm derby is something that I would love to experience right away. I do not know how my involvement is going to play out but I really look forward to playing in that game if it is possible,” Maurice Edu said.
“I know there is a huge rivalry between Rangers and Celtic. What a potential first game that would be, to play in the biggest derby game in world football. It would be unbelievable for me. If it did work out like that I would be more than excited as I cannot think of a better possible debut than that.”
Mo won’t have too much time to settle into his new home in Scotland though, as he has been called back for National Team duty for the next set of World Cup qualifying matches for the US. The US squad will travel to Havana for a Sept. 6th qualifier against Cuba before Hosting Trinidad & Tobago in Bridgeview, Ill. on Sept. 10th. Kickoff at Estado Pedro Marrero in Havana is slated for 8 p.m. ET, and will be shown live on ESPN Classic and Galavision. Four days later, Toyota Park will host its first ever World Cup qualifier when the U.S. takes on T&T on Sept. 10th. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT, and the match will be shown live on ESPN2 and Galavision.
